This is not a love story. For two years, Biddy Milligan has sacrificed everything—including her friends, hobbies, and self-esteem—for her boyfriend’s grand ideas of “true love.” But then she catches him cheating. Biddy escapes and is surprised to discover that two of her ex-friends, Jo and Ian, have been waiting to pick up where they left off. It’s exactly what Biddy wants. With their help, she begins to take back her former life. Soon she has beach trips, girl’s night, Taylor Swift inside jokes, cross country, and art (as well as secret make outs with Ian) filling her summer. But she doesn’t have Lily, her best friend. When Biddy’s determination to regain Lily’s friendship alienates everyone she cares about (again), she must take a hard look at herself and learn that moving on is more than recovering the past.
